On International Day of Women in Engineering, celebrated on June 23, TIC Trens highlighted the work of female engineers involved in stages considered fundamental to the development of TIC Eixo Norte, a project that provides for the implementation of the Trem Intercidades (TIC), the Trem Intermetropolitano (TIM), and the modernization of Line 7-Rubi.

Structured in three integrated services, the project includes the Trem Intercidades, which will connect São Paulo and Campinas; the Trem Intermetropolitano, between Jundiaí and Campinas; and the modernization of Line 7-Rubi. The initiative provides for the operation of Brazil’s first medium-speed intercity train.

With works initiated at the end of March and work fronts underway between Campinas and Jundiaí, the project brings together multidisciplinary teams responsible for developing engineering solutions, implementing systems, and technical analysis of infrastructure. Among the professionals involved are female engineers who work directly in the design and execution of structures aimed at serving future passengers.

At TIC Trens, professionals from different areas participate in the development of solutions related to rail-based mobility, with a focus on regional integration and expansion of railway infrastructure.

Experience in infrastructure projects

With over 20 years of experience in the mobility field, civil engineer Lilian dos Santos, project analyst in the Engineering area at TIC Trens, oversees the technical development of the project and participates in the analysis of solutions that will be implemented in the new railway infrastructure.

According to the professional, the main legacy of the activity lies in the impact generated by the projects for the population. “Having participated in projects that leave a legacy for the population and will continue to be part of the lives of thousands of people is what makes me most proud,” she stated.

Also in the Engineering area, project analyst Alice de Oliveira Santos works on structural analysis of stations, substations, and rail yards, with a focus on technical consistency and project compliance with engineering requirements.

The first female engineer in her family, Alice emphasized the importance of female presence in areas traditionally occupied by men. “Often we need to conquer spaces that are not yet ready to receive us. Each woman who occupies a new space helps pave the way for the next ones and expands possibilities for all those who will come after,” she said.

Work in systems and implementation

In the Implementation area, electrical engineer Andriéli Hilário Barizão Dahas works on the development and analysis of improvements in systems and installations that integrate the TIC Eixo Norte.

At the concessionaire, she works on the integration of technical disciplines related to safety, reliability, and operational performance of the project.

“It has always inspired me the possibility of contributing with concrete improvements, developing solutions that generate more efficiency, safety, and positive impact for people. It is this capacity to transform realities that makes engineering so relevant to society,” she stated.

For Andriéli, the date also represents an opportunity to encourage new professionals to enter the field. “Engineering still poses challenges, especially for women, but it also offers extraordinary opportunities for learning, growth, and transformation. Be resilient and trust in your own capacity,” she declared.
