The high-speed train of the line Peking-Shanghai. the longest of the world, with 1.318 kilometers -, it should begin to operate in 2012, it announced on this Tuesday the Chinese official press.
The construction already entered in the “crucial final phase” and it will be concluded in 2011, it indicated the newspaper China Daily, concerning the conclusion of a bridge with an arch of 108 meters in the surroundings of Shanghai, there is about one month.
“About of 1.000 workers worked 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to assure that the period would be accomplished”, it indicated the newspaper.
The high-speed train will shorten it for only five hours (half of the best current time) the trip among the two main Chinese cities. Besides, it is the dearest infrastructure work in 60 years of communist government.
Estimated in 220,9 billion iuanes (R$ 56 billion in the current exchange), the line Peking-Shanghai will have capacity to transport 80 million passengers annually and more than 100 million tons of load, according to the Chinese ministry of the Railroads.
For the patterns of the International Union of the Railroads, the high-speed lines concern trains that circulate above the 200 km/h.
China intends to build in the next three years 13 thousand kilometers of high-speed trains, more than the existent net now in the world.
