The President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva signed ordinance liberating R$ 1.077.243.506,00 for the Ministry of the Transports to do, in several states, maintenance and construction of passages of federal highways and bridges. He/she leaves of the resources will be invested in the works of construction of the Ferrovia Norte-Sul. The ordinance was published in the edition of this Thursday, 22, of the Official Diary of the Union.
The Federal Government plans to expand the Brazilian rail network, that now it’s of 29 thousand km, for 52 thousand km until 2030. And one of the great projects is the Ferrovia Norte-Sul, whose construction began in the government Sarney (1985 -1990), that there is 215 km in operation and, until the end of the year, it should have new stretch ready.
Up to 2010, the government intends to give for Nova Transnordestina (between Fortaleza and Recife, with extension even Eliseu Martins, in the south of Piauí), but it construction faced financial and expropriations problems. Now the acceleration of the work is expected, because it passed to be organized by CSN. The private section, through América Latina Logística, also invests R$ 750 million in the railroad of 250 km between Rondonópolis and Alto Araguaia.
