Valec Engineering, Railways and Construction (Valec – Engenharia, Construções e Ferrovias S.A) may already start the construction of the 553 km of the southern extension to the North-South Railway. The installation license was granted this Wednesday (15 December) by the Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Instituto Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente e dos Recursos Naturais Renováveis – Ibama).
This stretch shall go from the city of Ouro Verde in Goiás to the city of Estrela D’Oeste, in the countryside of the state of São Paulo. This license shall have a validity of four years. Ibama also issued, in favor of Valec, the renewal of the operating licence for the North-South Railway, in the stretch between Açailândia and Estreito, in the state of Maranhão, with an extension to the Multimodal Yard at Aguiarnópolis, in Tocantins.
