Six companies shall present a project for São Paulo’s Track 18

Six companies registered by the State Government to perform the project of Metro’s Track 18, which will connect São Paulo to ABC region.

They will have until early June to deliver the full project, showing their suggestion to PPP’s (Public-Private Partnership) model, which shall be made to track’s construction as a monorail system.

The management board of PPPs, presided by Vice-Governor Guilherme Afif Domingos (PSD), did not disclose the groups interested in the project. Folha verified that Odebrecht and Queiroz Galvão contractors are among the six contractor companies.

Track 18, with 20 kilometers of extension and 18 stations, shall cost US$1.63 billion. The track shall come from Tamanduateí’s Metro station and get to São Bernardo do Campo, through São Caetano do Sul and Santo André. The Government promised the conclusion to 2016.

Odebrecht and Queiroz Galvão Contractors are also among those who delivered the project for financial and legal remodeling for works of Track 6-Orange, from Brasilândia and São Joaquim Metro’s station, at Liberdade, through Pacaembu and Higienópolis.

From seven registered at the end of last year, only three delivered the project. PPP’s Managing Board did not confirm the names.

Now, Metro is going to evaluate all projects and will choose which one of them shall be the base for the invitation to bid regarding the track’s construction. Metro may also choose to take only parts of each one of them. There is no date for issuing the bid.

The 13.5-km track shall come into operation in 2017.
