América Latina Logística – ALL has developed internally a new and original system for management of crossings and train release focused on the network planning. As the only system in Brazil to perform train licensing via graphs, the PX system will enable achieving gains of 3% in traffic time through the major corridors by organizing the train crossings in a faster way, releasing the licenses by means of medium-term planning of the network. The proposal is aimed at streamlining the operation, without compromising the safety already achieved.
By replacing the old ATW system that made the train crossing licensing in real time, the new PX system adds the time dimension to the equation, which together with the algorithm internally developed, makes the tool capable of evaluating not only the current situation, but the future network conditions. The system reduces stop times and optimizes the network control, thus speeding the Operational Control Center (OCC) in terms of train release. The ALL OCC controls more than 4,000 train crossings every day.
“The PX system indicates the smartest order for train release, not only in the current time, but also evaluating the network conditions in the coming hours. In addition to time improvement, the mechanical solution standardizes the basic process,” explains Diego Rodrigo Neufert, IT Manager at ALL.

By investing US$820 million in the development, deployment and work of the IT and OCC teams for more than one year, the Company developed in house a tool estimated in more than US$27 million. The current adhesion to the system is already near to 100%.
“PX offers to the ALL control center everything it needs in a single program, thus optimizing the process view and coordination. In the past, licenses were more frequent and their duration time was shorter, as we had 40% of the time to plan the crossings. Today, I am able to focus 100% of my time on planning and schedule the trains in advance of hours, thus enabling longer licenses,” explains Leandro Soares Cleto, controller at OCC.
For Carlos Oliveira, OCC coordinator, who integrated the project development team, the PX system will provide high performance gains. Working in the industry for more than 28 years, and at ALL since its creation in 1997, Oliveira considers this solution a great enhancement leap. “Before the concession, the release of trains was usually made manually. Today, ALL developed an original solution in South America that integrates the most modern radio and satellite technologies, thus assisting in the control, efficiency measurement and providing safety,” he states.
