The medium-speed train, which carries passengers and cargo, and will connect the cities of Brasília, Anápolis and Goiânia, should be completed within four years, according to Sudeco (Superintendence for Development of the Midwest Region). The deadline covers the conduction of studies, project formulation and work execution. The estimated cost amounts to US$ 350 million. Marcelo Dourado, Superintendent-Director at Sudeco assured the lack of risks of failure in the work execution.
— There is zero-risk of failure in the work execution. Time will tell.
On Thursday (28), in a meeting attended by Sérgio Passos, Minister of Transports, and Fernando Bezerra, Minister of National Integration, the Agreement for Technical Cooperation has been defined for the line deployment. Popularly known as bullet train, the vehicle that will connect the cities of Brasília and Goiânia will actually be a medium-speed train, which reaches 140 Km/h and must run that railroad section in approximately one hour. The real ‘bullet train’ runs at speeds over 200 Km/h.
