Micro and small businesses can earn R $ 11.8 billion with the new infrastructure concessions plan made by the federal government that provides for investments in roads, railways and airports. According to estimates of the Sebrae Nacional, purchases of construction companies usually represent 30% to 40% of the value of each building and small businesses can have participation of 30% in turnover.
“Becoming a supplier of a large company may be the way to small business success. Therefore, the watchword is competitiveness, meeting the requirements of the contracting companies, usually associated with time, price and quality of products and services offered”, said Luiz Barretto, president of the Sebrae Nacional, mentioning that many entrepreneurs see in relationship with the giants of the market a growth opportunity.
According to him, in the highway sector, small businesses can act in providing personal protective equipment (EPI), electrical and hydraulic equipment, paint, hardware, concrete blocks, cement, uniforms, tools, transport of people and materials, painting, rental cars and machinery.
According to president of Sebrae, there are also good opportunities in the retail sector of the airports and in the provision of airport operation services.
To exemplify this business potential, Barreto cites the Consórcio do Aeroporto de Guarulhos, which were mapped 104 local suppliers in 42 categories of possible supply. The purchasing potential estimated by the project was R$ 23 million, and R$ 42 million are already purchased locally by the airport.
“Sebrae is studying the expansion of operations to other airports that have been granted to the private sector. In this sense, experience in Guarulhos is crucial to generate knowledge about the competitive and sustainable insertion of small business in the airport operations value chain,” he added.
