The Cariri Metro, which connects the municipalities of Juazeiro do Norte and Crato, starts commercial operation this Monday (May 31st). Some 1,200 passengers should be transported every day, at a fare of R$ 1.00.
For a period of six months, the Cariri Metro has run based on assisted operation and shall now start regular operation from Monday to Friday, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturdays from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. According to the State Government, there shall be a total of 46 trips per day from Monday to Friday and 30 on Saturdays.
The system shall start operating with seven stations: Crato, Padre Cícero, Muriti, São José, Antônio Vieira, Teatro and Juazeiro do Norte. The expectation is that Fátima Station shall be ready by the end of June.
