The city hall of Rio finally made a final decision and knows how the implementation of the Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) system to the Rio-2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be. In total, there will be six tracks that will travel 52 kilometers through the Center of the city of Rio de Janeiro.
The tracks start on the bus terminus or in the Central and will go through some of the main places of the Center as the Port Area, Av. Rio Branco, Cinelândia and pass close to the Olympic facilities in the Port, as the Media Village for those non-accredited, and the Praça XV. In total, there are 42 stations.
Each tram will have capacity for 450 passengers and the LRV lines will be connected to the metro, trains and buses. With the implementation of the new system, the intention is to reduce the number of buses.
