According to the governor of the state of Rio de Janeiro, Sérgio Cabral, Alstom as a major supplier of urban trains for the Brazilian market, is already making plans to manufacture in Brazil. In a press conference this Friday (March 30), at SuperVia’s main office in the state capital, the governor disclosed the French company’s interest in establishing itself in the state to better meet Brazilian demand.
“There is a possibility for us to bring a train factory to Rio. Alstom is interested in the possibility of buying the factory owned by Santa Matilde, in Três Rios, and to invest in the recovery of its premises,” he disclosed.
The governor is going on a trip to France, accompanied by the secretary of Transportation, Júlio Lopes, where both will take part in an attempt to break the speed record for trains next Tuesday (April 3rd), an event planned by the French high-speed train TGV, manufactured by Alstom.
