CPTM has all interest in searching new forms of investment, including partnerships with the private sector; we find that the best form to make possible such partnerships is when businesses associations represent all the interest of the sector, and not isolated agents. The recommendation comes from the new president of CPTM – São Paulo Metropolitan Trains Co — Alvaro Armond, and were made during the visit of the president of Ad-Train – Association for the Development of Fast Intercity Trains — Guillerme Quintella, concerning the simultaneous projects of airport trains in São Paulo (Guarulhos and Campinas). Armond said that he has received some proposals from individual companies, but that it he prefers to work in groups.
Complete information on the Express Airport/Train of Guarulhos project is available at the CPTM web page as well as the answers to 121 questions of the interested parties. The text can be found in http://www.stm.sp.gov.br/Expresso_Aeroporto/frequentyquestions/Respostas.htm. The proposals should be presented next April 27, but it it most likely that the government will change the premises. Instead of a trains that would serve the airport and the municipality of Guarulhos, the new São Paulo government prefers a dedicated airport trains.
Alvaro Armond is 48 years old, a graduated in business administration at FAAP. He comes from the British group Loyds TSB.
