The project to build a railway linking Brazil and Chile, through Bolivia, was highlighted on Friday (9) in Argentina. The official news agency Telam, citing an information released by Bolivian Minister of Transport, Walter Delgadillo, said the railroad will use an electric train and will not only unite a vast expanse of his country but also facilitate the exports from Brazil, improving the chances of bringing its production to the Pacific Ocean.
This was one of several projects analyzed in La Paz, the Bolivian capital, between the Special Adviser to the Presidency of Brazil, Marco Aurelio Garcia, and local authorities. Garcia arrived in Bolivia last Tuesday (6) and ended on Thursday (8) a series of meetings held between technicians and entrepreneurs from both countries.
Today in La Paz, the Bolivian Minister of Transport, Walter Delgadillo, disclosed new details about the project, which is still in early stages of study, according to the Bolivian Information Agency (ABI).
Delgadillo has revealed that construction of the railroad will require investments reach US$ 100 million and have concern for the preservation of the environment. Therefore, the Brazilian and Bolivian governments initially opted for the use of an electric train.
According to the Bolivian Minister of Transport, now occurs a study for the formation of a multinational consortium between Brazil and Bolivia, with the possibility of the entry of China and India in the project. India’s experience in the construction of railways, said Walter Delgadillo, can be very helpful to the project.
The minister Walter Delgadillo said the railroad will be part of an integrated transport system that the Bolivian government wants to implement, with links between road, air and ports.
