The Railroad Corridor of Paraná, connecting Maracaju (MS) to the Port of Paranaguá (PR), passing by Cascavel and Guarapuava, with 1,116 kilometers (km) of extension, was one of the projects discussed today (29), in Curitiba, by the Minister of Transports, Paulo Sérgio Passos, with entrepreneurs and representatives of the state government within the Futuro 10 Paraná Permanent Forum. The minister informed that the federal government should publish, in the next days, the notice to bid for the preparation of work feasibility studies.
“We have to change the transport matrix in Brazil, by emphasizing other modals, without abandoning the investments in the road [transport],” commented the minister. By their turn, the entrepreneurs and representatives of class entities claimed for more federal investments in infrastructure.
The minister answered with figures. He stated that, in 1997, the budget of the ministry for investments in transportation infrastructure was US$1.3 billion. From 2006 to 2008, this figure jumped to an average value of US$3.70 billion per year. From 2009 to 2011, the average figure jumped to US$7.9 billion/year. For this year, we have a budget amounting to US$12 billion,” reported Passos.
