Interested in the high-speed rail (HSR) project, which will connect the cities of Campinas, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Spanish companies intend to join to form a consortium and participate in the auction, yet to be defined. According to the Spanish ambassador in Brazil, Manuel de la Cámara Hermoso, the industry companies in his country have expertise in the subject.
The logistics plan announced by the Brazilian government, for us (Spaniards), is very important, because we made many investments in railroads and highways over the past 25 years, and our companies have a lot of experience, de la Cámara said.
The ambassador considers the HSR project as a project of greatest interest. He boasts of Spain is the country with the largest high speed rail network in Europe and holds the second place worldwide, behind only China.
We recently won the auction for construction of the railroad that connects the cities of Mecca and Medina (Saudi Arabia) in competition with major investors from Germany, Japan and China, de la Cámara noted.
