Representatives from the Amazonas Government, the State Public Ministry and Iphan (the Brazilian national institute of historical and artistic assets) have reached an understanding last Friday about the terms of the public bid for building the monorail system, aiming at preparing Manaus to host the 2014 World Cup. With the agreement, the new notice to bid with new information shall be published until the 18th of the current month. The information comes from the Assistance department of Seplan.
In April, the Public Ministry recommended the suspension of the tendering process, claiming, for example, the lack of details in the basic engineering project.
Governor Omar Azis defends the monorail project, but has advised the State Secretariat of Planning (Seplan) to look for an agreement so there is no doubt about the transparency of the process.
Under the agreement to be presented this week, the State commits to presenting a compensation plan for the central region under influence of the system. The project will be prepared by the Secretariat of Culture.
