The Ministry already selected three companies as finalists for the election of who will render the service. They are them: Lorry-Rail, OptiCapital and of a consortium integrated by the companies Combi Ouest and Euro Cargo Rail, this last one with activity in Spain.
The selected company will be handler of accomplishing a service of transport of trucks from the south of Aquitaine (French area in the border of Spain with the Basque Country), to the south of the area of the Île-of-France and of the Nord-shovel-give-Calaris (to the north of the country), once, in agreement with planned it, up to 2011 the roads will already be ready.
This project, priority for the Executive, it is framed in the strategy of impelling the rail transport of load announced on September 16 by the government.
France entrusts that this service will allow to transfer a part of the traffic of loads of the highways for the railroad, relieving an area “particularly congested” among the Iberian Peninsula, France and the north of Europe. Besides, it will allow to improve the safety of the road and it will reduce the emission of CO2.
