DT – Výhybkárna a strojírna, a leading Czech manufacturer of turnouts, turnout structures and specialized components for rail transport, is carrying out a major delivery of stock rails for the German railway infrastructure manager DB InfraGO AG.
The contract is being implemented under a framework agreement concluded following a successfully completed tender procedure for the supply of large turnout components.
The company is currently manufacturing and supplying 541 stock rails between May and July 2026. In addition, it has secured a further order for 376 units, with deliveries scheduled between August and October. The total volume will therefore reach 917 stock rails, with an export value exceeding EUR 2.47 million.
A stock rail is the fixed rail in the switch section of a turnout, against which the switch blade fits and which, together with the switch blade, forms the running path and ensures vehicle guidance through the turnout.
“Germany has long been one of our key export markets. The fact that we succeeded in DB InfraGO AG’s tender procedure is something we see as confirmation of our high technical standards, manufacturing quality and ability to meet the highly demanding requirements of the German railway infrastructure operator,” said Marek Smolka, CEO of DT – Výhybkárna a strojírna.
The deliveries are destined for the turnout plant in Witten, owned by Deutsche Bahn. The facility manufactures turnouts and turnout structures to ensure Germany’s strategic self-sufficiency in railway infrastructure. For this production, DT – Výhybkárna a strojírna supplies precisely machined stock rails that must be fully compatible with DB InfraGO AG’s drawing documentation and related turnout components.
“Stock rails are structurally and technologically specific components for which machining precision, material quality and full compliance with the customer’s documentation are essential. In this case, we are supplying stock rails in various profiles and lengths ranging from 8 to 24 metres, designed for several turnout geometries. This is therefore a contract that places high demands not only on production, but also on logistics,” said Dušan Kadlec, Sales Director of DT – Výhybkárna a strojírna.
The company is supplying stock rails in the 49E5, 54E4 and 60E2A1 profiles. Transport is carried out by truck, and the longest components require special permits due to oversized transport regulations.
The award of the contract follows successful deliveries of stock rails to the same customer in 2022, 2023 and 2024. DT – Výhybkárna a strojírna was able to participate in the 2025 tender thanks to its Q1 system certificate and HPQ product type approval, which confirm compliance with the requirements for deliveries to the German railway market.
“Repeated deliveries for German Railways confirm that a Czech turnout manufacturer is able to succeed even in one of the most demanding environments in Europe. For us, this is also an important signal that our know-how, production capacities and long-term investments in quality have clear value in foreign markets,” concluded Marek Smolka.
