In the Table of Contents, a trio of EMD locomotives crossing the Marialva region illustrates the strength and grandeur of Brazilian railway operations. The image opens an edition dedicated to the movements driving the sector, bringing together analyses, technology, historical preservation, and perspectives for the future of national infrastructure.

In People Making a Difference, we highlight professionals from TIC Trens and Matisa do Brasil who, with technical expertise, dedication, and innovation, contribute daily to the evolution of the Brazilian ferrovia.

The Market section brings together the main sector news, tracking investments, projects, movements, and trends that continue to transform the railway landscape in Brazil.

In Reports, we present two themes that dialogue with each other. The first shows how railway preservation keeps the memory of the rails alive, connecting past, present, and future through the valorization of historical heritage. The second travels along the abandoned rails scattered throughout Brazil, reflecting on the challenges of an infrastructure that still holds enormous potential to drive regional development once again.

In Railway Archive, we celebrate the 17 years of CPTM’s Expresso Turístico, a project that consolidated São Paulo railway tourism and continues bringing thousands of passengers closer to the history, culture, and landscapes of the State of São Paulo.

In Mobility Station, Sérgio Avelleda presents an analysis of the São Paulo Metro, addressing its importance for urban mobility and the challenges accompanying the expansion of one of Latin America’s largest metro systems.

The Market Study brings an updated survey on the fleet of wagons in operation, offering a strategic overview for professionals tracking the evolution of railway freight transport.

In Supplies, we show how the growth in railway demand has been driving investments in maintenance, modernization, and increased operational efficiency of wagons, consolidating a supplier chain increasingly prepared to meet market needs.

The Technical Note, signed by Derman Felipe Couto de Souza from MRS Logística, presents Cost Engineering as a strategic tool for decision-making in investments focused on automation and railway signaling systems, demonstrating how economic analysis can go hand in hand with technological innovation.

In Statistics, the numbers reveal a scenario of contrasts: while freight transport shows signs of recovery, the passenger segment faces contraction, evidencing different growth rates within the national railway sector.

This edition’s article is signed by Alexandre Jacob Alves, who addresses concessions, Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), and the concept of Life Cycle Cost, discussing the importance of incorporating life-cycle cost analyses for more sustainable and efficient decisions.

In Photo of the Month, the modern trains of Line 6-Orange represent a new stage of rail mobility, symbolizing technological advances and the expansion of Brazilian metro-rail infrastructure.

More than tracking the sector’s transformations, this edition invites the reader to understand the movements that shape the present and define the future of railways in Brazil. From historical heritage to the most innovative solutions, from technical analysis to major investments, each page reinforces the importance of rails for the country’s development.
