MRS receives three “super machines”

Giving continuity to its politics for investment in equipment of last generation, MRS RR received delivery of three heavy track maintenance equipments. The machines — one tamper 09-3X and two ballast regulating SSP-110 — represent an investment of R$ 17 million (US$ 9.5 million). They were manufactured by Plasser & Theurer in Austria. 

According to the specialist Fernando Moura e Silva, with that kind of equipment “we will make the tamping job, for example, at a pace of 2 thousand meters per hour, while the existing equipment makes 400 meters in the same interval of time . Today, MRS possesss nine tamping machines and eight regulating machines from the decade of the 70s. The  09-3X tamper carries through the work of geometric correction and tamping keeping the levelling and the alignment of the track in accordance with the standards.

The machine tamps,  lines up and levels three sleepers at a time, non stop, while the current ones make each sleeper at a time. From there, the enormous productivity gain, that gets to, in some cases, 400% .The  ballast regulating SSP110 make a complementary work.
