The state of Rio will receive about of R$ 100 billion of public and private investments between the 3 and 5 next years. The announcement was made by governor Sérgio Cabral, who participated in the morning of this Monday (5) of a meeting with mayor Eduardo Paes and the president of the Olympic Committee for the Games of 2016, in the Palace of the City, in Botafogo, in the South Area of Rio.
“We will discuss that sweet problem to do the best Olympic games of the history.
Earlier, the Olympic flag was flown in the Palace. The event counted with the several municipal secretaries’ participation.
Cabral emphasized that the result for the choice of Rio to base the next games was resulted of the harmony among the three powers: Federal, State and Municipal.
The governor also informed that, after two frustrated attempts of basing the games, the state of Rio had the largest note in it history in the requirement safety.
Safety won’t be the problem. The one that we want is to arrive to 2016 with peace in the city, before, during and after the games. We will qualify our policemen and to increase the cash, Cabral spoke.
The governor also said that he intends to do the best Olympic games of the history. On Wednesday (7), a new meeting, that time with the state secretariat is marked, to discuss improvements in the transport section, hostelry, investments in foreign language in the public schools, in the environment, with the despoluição of the Guanabara Bay, and in the safety. He said that the public schools will have English classes, French and Spanish.
One of the projects up to 2016 is to triplicate the number of users of trains and of the subway. According to Cabral, they are foreseen the purchase of more 30 trains with air conditioning for SuperVia and the increase of Metrô Rio’s fleet.
Today we have about 1 million users a day. In 2016, they will be 3 million passengers.
Mayor Eduardo Paes commented on that he will need help to accomplish the games in the city. The city hall doesn’t have the pretension of accomplishing the alone games. That is a big one differential of Pan. The city hall is not lady of the games. We want and we needed a lot of help. The games cannot be a problem to Rio. The games have to help the city.
