The Government of Mato Grosso informed this Friday (24) that the date for presenting invitation for bid proposals regarding the Light Rail Vehicles (LRV) was postponed. The World Cup State Secretariat (Secopa – Secretaria Extraordinária da Copa) established April 10 as the day for opening the proposals; however, a new date shall be disclosed at the Official Gazette, which shall be issued in March 6.
According to Secopa, the new issue date for the opening meets a requirement of the Legislation, which establishes a deadline of 15 workdays between the public hearings and the invitation for bid issuance.
According to Secopa’s secretary, Eder Moraes, bringing forward the proposal’s start occurred due to recommendations made by the Federal Court of Auditors (TCU – Tribunal de Contas da União) and suitability of the invitation for bid discussed last February 16 in Cuiabá and Várzea Grande, metropolitan region. According to Secopa, the invitation for bid issuance shall occur on the same day the new date is disclosed by the Official Gazette, and shall be available on the Agency’s website.

LRV
LRV shall have 22 kilometers of extension divided in two itineraries. The first stretch will connect Historiador Rubens de Mendonça Avenue to Marechal Rondon Airport. Yet, the second stretch shall comprise the Coxipó region and the downtown region.
Secopa estimates a cost of US$705.05 (R$1.2 billion), being US$248.53 (R$423 million) already approved and the other US$456.52 (R$727 million) shall come from Caixa Econômica Federal by means of Brazilian Development Bank’s (BNDES – Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social) resources.
