Rumo Logística, one of the biggest transport Company of sugar and grains of the world, now has a new security ally. The Company implemented a new tracking and management technology to increase the control over its car’s fleet. The device is based on radio frequency identification (RFID).
Developed by NEC Latin America, a telecommunication and technology solutions Company, the integrated system was deployed in more than 730 cars in order to monitor the entire rail network. Data reading devices process and transmit real-time information, making available information about trains’ movement.
According to the business development director of NEC in Brazil, Luiz Villela, the system is suitable for the rail, where there is a need for control and visibility of trains’ location.
“Rumo Logística’s constant expansion requires more accurate control mechanisms to monitor the operations. Because of that, the generation of accurate data about this movement allows a continuous refining of the internal processes, resulting in a better operational efficiency and cost saving,” he affirmed.
Real-time responses, with statistics on location and schedule of each car, enables to rapidly troubleshoot process deviations, the necessity of maintenance in several points of the network or for trains, stretch and time overloads, besides mistakes and delays.
