MRS Logística will invest $500 million this year

MRS Logística S/A, based in the city of Juiz de Fora, in the Zona da Mata (Forest Area) of Minas Gerais, should invest $527.3 million this year, a figure in line with 2012. Most of the investments will be directed to the company’s network and the acquisition of rolling stock and shops.


In a statement sent to the market via Bovespa yesterday, the company also announced that the shareholders approved a budget with gross revenues of $1.83 billion for 2013. Furthermore, MRS revealed that, in 2012, it recorded net income of $217.67 million, decrease of 15.5% compared to the result of 2011 ($257.64 million).


On the investment plan for this year, out of the total of $527.3 million, 43.2% – or $228.01 million – will be used in the company’s network, 30.9% – $162.72 million – in the purchase of rolling stock and shops, 16.3% – $86.06 million – in electronics systems, and the remainder, 9.6% – $50.45 million – in programs of health, environment, safety and other areas.


According to the statement sent to the market, the cost of the investments planned for 2013 will be covered with funds from its own resources, part of it ($103.37 million) will come from half of 2012 profit, and the remainder will be covered with funding. The company also reports that possible changes in the amount of investment required for the year can happen due to new demands as they arise.

Regarding the budget for the cost of the operations for this year, the shareholders estimate and approved a total of $1.15 billion, of which $564.3 million in long-term variables, $240.87 million in short-term variables, $145.41 million in fixed costs and $208.23 million in depreciation.
