In 2014, Trensurb hit several marks of number of passengers transported, consolidating itself increasingly as the structuring element of the transportation in the North axis of the Metropolitan Area of Porto Alegre and contributing for the reduction of the traffic of road vehicles. As a result, the company helps to decrease the amount of pollutants emitted and accidents occurred with these vehicles.
58,792,721 users were transported by the subway throughout the year – 4,392,695 more than the previous record, reached in 2013. This equates to a monthly average of 4,899,393 passengers, also a record, 366,057 more than the average of 2013.
The average of passengers transported per business day in 2014 was also a milestone: 192,321. The previous record was obtained in 2013 – 182,886 users per business day. Another mark hit was that of passengers transported in a single day. The record was broken by three times during the last Expointer, reaching 228,250 people on September 5.
For seven times, the monthly demand in the subway surpassed five million passengers and the record of users transported in a single month was reached in October: 5,400,465.
The stations that registered, in 2014, the largest number of accesses to the metro system by means of them were Mercado (9,413,083), Canoas (5,787,597) and Mathias Velho (4,615,863).
