Alckmin promises Subway Line 6-Orange finished by 2020

São Paulo State Governor Geraldo Alckmin (PSDB) declared on Monday 13th, that the new Subway Line 6-Orange,will be completely finished by 2020.

With the excavation of a ventilation shaft at Avenida Otaviano Alves de Lima – local track at Marginal Tiete, towards Rodovia Castelo Branco, in Freguesia do Ó, north region of São Paulo, Alckmin symbolically started the construction.

It will have 15 stations in 15.3 kilometers of the so-called “universities line”, which will serve regions with universities such as Pontifícia Universidade Católica (Pontifical Catholic University – PUC), Mackenzie and Paulista University (Unip).

The work will be made in partnership with the Public and Private Sector (PPP) and it is one of the major works currently ongoing in the country, in the order of BRL 9.6 billion, according to Alckmin.

Also according to Alckmin, approximately 70% of stations areas have already been expropriated, and this process shall be concluded on the first semester of 2016. The private sector will be accountable for the service execution, operation and maintenance.
Four connections will be made with the current Metrô and Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM) network: with Lines 7-Rubi and 8-Diamond, of CPTM, Água Branca Station; Line 4-Orange, of Metrô, future Higienópolis-Mackenzie Station; and Line 1-Blue, of Metrô, at São Joaquin Station;

The line 6 stations will be: Brasilândia, Vila Cardoso, Itaberaba, João Paulo I, Freguesia do Ó, Santa Marina, Água Branca, Sesc Pompeia, Perdizes, PUC-Cardoso de Almeida, Angélica/Pacaembu, Higienópolis/Mackenzie, 14 Bis, Bela Vista and São Joaquin.
