The work on Higienópolis-Mackenzie and Oscar Freire stations from the metro’s Line4-Yellow were resumed last week. The prediction is that the terminals are opened to the public only in 2016. The information was confirmed by the Metrô’s press office. In March, the governor Geraldo Alckmin (PSDB) criticized the delay on Line4-Yellow’s conclusion – which was postponed to 2018 – and it is the Isolux Córsan-Corviam company’s responsibility.
Because of the delay, the state government and the World Bank, financier of Line4-Yellow ‘s second phase, decided to terminate the contract. São Paulo’s government is now preparing new bidding to the construction of the São Paulo-Morumbi and Vila Sônia’s stations, which should be delivered with delay in relation to the current schedule.
CONSTRUCTION WORK DELAY
According to the State, Isolux Córsan-Corviam company reduced the number of employees, equipment and input for the conclusion of the construction works since last year. The lot 1 of Line 4-Yellow ‘s second phase predicted the conclusion of Higienópolis-Mackenzie, Oscar Freire and São Paulo-Morumbi’s stations, including the construction of the Vila Sônia’s yard and bus terminal. The total value was R$ 173 million.
The World Bank decided to transfer São Paulo-Morumbi’s station for lot 2, which includes Vila Sônia’s station, a tunnel and 1.5km of rails towards Taboão da Serra (SP). With the change, the lot’s total value should go from R$ 386 million to R$ 500 million. The expectation is that a new bidding is carried until June, but the works should be started only next year. The constructions of line 4 yellow began in April, 2012, with a total price of R$559 million in contracts. Up to the present moment, only Fradique Coutinho station was delivered, in November.
