Odebrecht and FCC win the bidding for a subway line in Panamá

The consortium formed by the Constructor Norberto Odebrecht and FCC Construcciones, from Spain, won this Thursday the bidding for the line 2 of the Panama City Subway. The Consortium Line 2, as it is called, presented the best financial bid among the three other participants of the bidding, equivalent to US$ 1.857 billion, and it also got the best grades for its technical proposal.

The reference price of the bidding was equivalent to US$ 1.818 billion and the bid that could get as close as possible to this number, accordingly to a complex formula that had been settled, would become the best assessed one, not necessarily the cheapest one.

The economic bid has been weighted in 49% in the international competition and the technical proposition, 51%, which. Odebrecht and FCC also won it with a wide advantage.

There is a deadline of five business days to present resorts against the bidding result and, in case it doesn’t happen, result will be confirmed today.
The contract for the construction of line 2 consists on engineering services of the project, construction of civil works, auxiliary installations and stations, provision and installation of full railway system, which includes the rolling material and the beginning of the service accordingly to official information.

The company that wins the bidding will have a period of 46 months to conclude the work, which includes 16 stations and 22 kilometres of extension.
The line 1 of the subway, with 16 kilometres, has been constructed by Odebrecht and FCC with roughly US$ 2.1 billion and have begun its operation in April last year.
