The railroad operation volume at ALL in Brazil increased 7.6% in the first quarter this year when compared to the same period last year, with market share gains in the agricultural segment. The Brazilian climatic conditions were worst than the forecasted ones and the total production of grains within ALL operation area should decrease 17.7% this year.
For Brado Logística business, the volume measured by the number of containers grew 16.7%, jumping from 10,300 containers in January-March 2011 to 12,100 containers within the same period this year. The volume expansion was driven by the Rio Grande and Wide Gauge corridors, which compensated the reduction occurred in the Mercosur business unit.
At Ritmo Logística, the volume increased 10.7%, measured in kilometers traveled, from 15.2 million km in the first half of 2011 to 16.9 million km in January-March this year.
