Governor Geraldo Alckmin will launch today the notice to bid of extension works of Line 2-Green, stretch that will connect the Vila Prudente Station to the surroundings of Presidente Dutra Highway, near the city of Guarulhos, in Greater São Paulo. The start of construction is scheduled for the second half of 2013.
The new stretch, which will be underground, will be 13.5 km long and will have 12 stations: Água Rasa, Anália Franco, Vila Formosa, Guilherme Giorgi, Nova Manchester, Aricanduva, Penha, Penha de França, Tiquatira, Paulo Freire and Dutra. It is expected to carry 600,000 users per day.
Works will be divided into two phases. In the first one, the stretch Vila Prudente-Vila Formosa will be built, with four stations and 3.3 km long, scheduled for delivery in 2020. The investment will be $1.13 billion. The second step provides for the implementation of the connection Vila Formosa-Dutra, scheduled to open in 2025.
The extension of Line 2-Green will have an interconnection at Penha Station with Line 3-Red. Interconnections with lines of the São Paulo Metropolitan Train Company (CPTM), yet to be built, are also expected. They are 11-Coral in Penha; 6-Orange, in Anália Franco; 12-Sapphire and 13-Jade, in Tiquatira.
