CAF, the Spanish company which is manufacturing trains for the Sao Paulo Metro and CPTM (Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos) has completed the production of the first train that will integrate the new fleet of Line 3 – Red, as predicted in Plano de Expansão SP.
The vehicle has already left the factory in Irún, Spain, and heads to the port of Bilbao, where it will be shipped to the Port of Santos. The unit, which includes a 65 trains lot, will begin operating in March 2010.
Sao Paulo metro will receive 17 trains from CAF. The vehicles purchased by STM (Secretaria dos Transportes Metropolitanos) for lines 1-Blue and 3 – Red, will go under dynamic tests in the Itaquera Square. In the Spanish plant will be produced only two units, and the remaining 15 will be manufactured on the new plant in Hortolandia, countryside of Sao Paulo.
Air-conditioning
CAF is also manufacturing 48 trains to CPTM: 20 to Line 7-Rubi (Luz-Francisco Morato), 20 to Line 12-Sapphire (Brás-Calmon Viana) and 8 to Line 9-Emerald (Osasco-Grajaú).
The first train of the lot is in the final phase of static tests in the Beasain factory, Spain. Until next week, the company should embark the first composition to Brazil. The train also starts its operations in March 2010.
The units are equipped with air-conditioning system, monitoring cameras, detection and fire suppression, electronic communication panels, security cameras, accessibility items, reporting hearing scanned, event recorders and system brake with sliding control.
