The Brazilian company ALL – America Latina Logistica is testing its new equipments for the handling of the so called Isotanks, which are containers for the transport of cement. The expectation is to triple the volume transported nowadays. The company affirmed that the idea is to carry up to 15 thousand tons of cement, against today’s five thousand, which means a larger gain of scale and productivity that will favor costumers and contracts.
According to the manager of ALL’s Industrial Products Unit, Alonso Fernandes Bee, the new equipment gives a great flexibility on the transport of this kind of product. “It does not require overflow structure next to the railroads. Our expectation is to triple the actual volume with the arrival of these equipments”, confirmed Bee.
Bee has also discussed that the companies Camargo Correa, Itambe and Votorantim has great interest in this kind of transport of cement.
This week, ALL saw a new niche to be explored. The company closed a five-year contract for the transportation of sand for civil work with Minermix Mineracao, from the Sobase/Concrebase group, which acts in the building material segment. It will be transported 25 thousand tons of sand per month, according to calculation.
The contract value was not informed by ALL, however the partnership counts with investments of US$ 110 million for the refurbishment of wagons and upgrades in the permanent line and locomotives. According to the company, Sao Paulo’s sand market must continue to grow in 2010, supported by the government programs for civil construction and the Growing Acceleration Program (GAP). “This year we are aiming to gather new costumers and make new rotes viable. We pretend to transport 100 thousand tons of sand per moth until the end of the year”, said Bee.
ALL pretends to close two more contracts in this semester with Pedrasil and AB Areias, with a 25 thousand volume of sand each. “We will close these contracts on this semester, there are just a few details remaining. With these contracts, we are planning to reach the same volume made in 2007, which are 75 thousand tons for the three contracts and the remaining with the transportation of the freight spot or new costumers”, said the executive.
