The President of the Brazilian Court of Audit (TCU), Augusto Nardes, said on this Thursday that the government will deliver on next Monday the final draft of the concession model for railroads. Nardes was meeting this afternoon with President Dilma Rousseff.
“On Monday the minister Gleisi Hoffmann goes to court to take the final proposal with respect to railroads for Brazil. We are still waiting for the format that will be presented by the government and in the expectation that this format can be definitive for the railroads. 7,500 km of railroads will be made in the country. We have had several technical meetings between the court staff and the government staff,” said Nardes.
The process of railroad concession has not yet started. The notice to bid for the railroad connecting Açailândia (state of Maranhão) and Barcarena (state of Pará) still needs the approval of the TCU to be released.
Nardes also reported that Dilma Rousseff told him that the government will obey the guidelines that the court gave with respect to the concession of the airports of Confins (state of Minas Gerais) and Galeão (state of Rio de Janeiro), whose notices to bid were approved with caveat by TCU.

“President Dilma told me that the guidelines we gave in relation to airports will be obeyed with respect to the last two airports of great importance that we have already decided in court last week. With this, the issue of airports will also flow,” he said.
