The consortium Monotrilho Manaus, comprised of CR Almeida, Mendes Jr, Serveng and Scomi, has been qualified in the bid for the executive design, construction, supply and implementation of the monorail system for the metropolitan region of Manaus.
The proposals were delivered last week and yesterday (18), the Executive Power’s General Bid Commission (CGL) held the session that disclosed the result of the judgment on the documentations from bidders interested in participating on the bid.
The consortium Monotrilho Manaus competed with the consortium Via Verde, comprised of the companies Delta, TB and Intamin, which was disqualified from the process, for not presenting four items in compliance with the required on call for bid. Intamin (Switzerland) and Scomi (Malaysia) are two of the four worldwide suppliers of monorails, in addition to Japanese Hitachi and Canadian Bombardier.
After the result is published, the consortium will have five work days to appeal the decision. The next phases will be analysis of technical proposal and analysis of price proposal.

In total, 46 companies collected the call for public bid for the monorail works.
Due to its complexity, the bid for the monorail was divided into several phases, enabling an appeal in each of them, which makes it impossible to determine a deadline for concluding the bid.
The value of the Monorail fee is yet to be defined, but according to calculations from the State Secretariat of Planning and Development (Seplan), the fee may be between R$2.50 and R$3.10. The value estimate was calculated based on the daily flow of 18,000 people who must use the monorail and the traveling time of three minutes and thirty seconds. The project may cost R$ 1.3 billion.
The works for building the monorail shall start until December. The deadline is a recommendation from the Ministry of Cities so that the capital cities that will host the 2014 World Cup matches have no problems meeting the demands from FIFA.
