The first maritime shipment of pulp produced at Suzano Papel e Celulose’s new plant in Imperatriz (Maranhão) is scheduled for February and will be destined for the United States. Although the plant has started its activities in December 30, the market sales start only in a second period, after creating stocks with the input of the new production line.
The pulp produced in Imperatriz will supply mainly North American and European markets, with ships departing from port Itaqui in São Luís (Maranhão). Last week, Suzano reported that all 227 cars responsible for transporting pulp were ready.
By the end of January, all compositions must have been delivered to Suzano. The transportation of input between Imperatriz and the port will be performed by VLI via Ferrovia Norte-Sul and Estrada de Ferro Carajás. In the area of port Itaqui, where Suzano will have a warehouse, Transnordestina Logística S.A. will be the logistics operator. (TLSA).
The plant in Maranhão has capacity to produce 1.5 million tons of eucalyptus pulp and required an investment of USD 2.3 billion in industrial line. Investments for creating the forest base added another USD 575 million.
